Here are a bunch of screenshots of Obsidian’s new game The Outer Worlds

Fallout Killer?

I spent a good chunk of time this weekend thinking about Obsidian’s new RPG The Outer Worlds. It debuted Thursday night at The Game Awards with the trailer that’s embedded above. It raised a lot of eyebrows and commanded a lot of attention.

Shortly after, PR sent over a bunch of screenshots so I figured I’d share those too. Maybe the video moved too fast for you to study every little thing. Maybe you just want an excuse to look at The Outer Worlds again. Maybe I just want an excuse to talk about The Outer Worlds again. Whatever the reason, they’re all gathered together in a gallery below for you to peruse at your leisure.

The obvious observation is that this looks like Fallout in space if Fallout hadn’t fallen on such, uhh, hard times as of late. But there are aesthetic inklings of Borderlands and new Rage too. Whatever the exact DNA is, The Outer Worlds looks fantastic thus far. It releases sometime in 2019, probably later than sooner. We’ll see if the original creators of Fallout are the ones capable of creating The Fallout Killer.
