It’s actually happening!
During the Bandai Namco panel at Anime Expo LA, the company announced that Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 will be arriving in America later this year.
If the name sounds familiar, that’s because we’ve covered it before. The game’s still been trucking along since then and now sports a roster of 110 different mobile suits. The roster includes mechs from the original show, War in the Pocket, 08th MS Team, Thunderbolt, IGLOO, along with numerous games and additional material. It is hands down one of the most comprehensive lineups to exist outside of an SD Gundam game.
Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation 2 will remain a PlayStation 4 exclusive when it arrives later this year. I had an enjoyable time with it and found the gameplay to have a more grounded approach. You should definitely give this a shot when this arrives, regardless of how you feel about the franchise.
This announcement, along with Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare‘s international release, makes me hopeful that the upcoming SD Gundam game will potentially be following shortly after.
