Giant steps are what you take…

One of the coolest elements of E3 is often digging out the debut trailers that sometimes fall between the cracks amidst all of the chest-beating of the bigger reveals. Take for instance this debut gameplay trailer for interstellar adventure Journey to the Savage Planet, which is headed to PC and consoles next year.

Journey is developed by Typhoon Studios, a Canadian developer formed by Far Cry 4 director Alex Hutchinson and comprised of former Ubisoft and EA devs. Journey is the fledgling outfit’s first release, and will see players explore colourful extra-terrestrial environments, with some action elements and more than a dollop of wry humour.

A story of man’s attempt to find a new home for humanity, we can already see some darling creativity at work in the lush environments and bevy of alien creatures. World traversal is also featured, with out unnamed explorer running, jumping, sliding and jet-packing around the fields and cliff-tops on their mission to investigate the flora and fauna of the planet.

Typhoon has gone on record stating that they hope Journey will be a light-hearted and easy-going game, specifically built to played in stress-free, enjoyable bursts, rather than something you have to sink day-long sessions into. I’m a big fan of games with a “wind-down” mentality, and I’m already digging the world design. This one could be worth keeping an eye on.

Journey to the Savage Planet is in development for a 2020 release on PS4, PC and Xbox One.
