E3 is generally a pretty exciting time. But, if you’re a Command & Conquer fan, it could also be a time for mourning, because EA has just announced Command and Conquer: Rivals, a new RTS that has been “re-imagined for mobile.”

My feelings aside, the concept of a portable Command and Conquer could be promising. The battles themselves shown in the gameplay demo seem short enough, notably, with the playing field in complete view. But, after seeing this in action during the demo, I just don’t know if I care enough to ever play this when I could just go play Red Alert 2 instead.

With no official release date as of yet, Command and Conquer: Rivals will be releasing on both iOS and Android, with Android users being able to play right now in a “pre-alpha” version of the game. Exciting!
