If that song is anything to go by, we’re heading to West Virginia!

[Update: Jason Schreier from Kotaku spoke with sources who wish to remain anonymous, confirming that “Fallout 76 is in fact an online survival RPG that’s heavily inspired by games like DayZ and Rust, according to three people familiar with the project.” The game will apparently feature base-building (similar to what we’ve seen in Fallout 4) and other survival-themed games. One source also cautioned that the “gameplay is rapidly changing like it does in many online ‘service’ games.”]

After a day of speculation – and waiting overnight – the latest entry in the Fallout series has been announced: Fallout 76. Not much else is known about the title. Whether or not it’ll be a core game in the series, or possibly even some sort of spin-off isn’t entirely apparent yet.

Notably, Ron Perlman seems to be reprising his role once more as narrator. As for Vault 76 itself? In Fallout 3 the Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel apparently lists Vault 76 as a “control vault” with a total of 500 occupants, with the intention of the vault doors opening 20 years after a nuclear war. Vault 76 is also mentioned in a newspaper in the prologue of Fallout 4.

With Bethesda’s E3 press conference scheduled for June 10, I’m sure we’ll be seeing plenty of Fallout 76 within the next few weeks.
