Out of the blue, Activision have released new content for 2015’s Call of Duty entry, Black Ops 3. The new update takes care of a few bugs, as well as adding a new map, new multiplayer mode and other features to the three-year-old shooter.

The new mode “Infected”, which has appeared in the CoD series previously,  sees one player on a mad dash to “infect” all of the other players on the map, who will then themselves join the horde It essentially sounds like “Tag”, just with more hand-grenades. Players will be able to enjoy this mode on the new Redwood Snow map, an icy variant of the forest classic.

The new patch also features various, non-descript “General performance updates”. Older CoD titles are well-known for having extended lifespans, with many players choosing to stick with their favourite multiplayer iteration, rather than move on to more contemporary games in the series.

Call of Duty Black Ops 3 Version 1.27 is live on PS4 and Xbox One, and is coming to PC today.
