Borderlands headlines the current Humble Bundle

A good entry point for newbies

Today is just a Borderlands day, it would seem. Not only did the third episode of the stellar Tales from the Borderlands release today, but now we have word that the mainline loot-shooters will be doing the whole Humble Bundle thing.

It’s hard to imagine there are people out there who want to play 2009’s initial entry in the series and haven’t yet, but for any of you out there, you can do it for cheap at the moment. For a dollar or more you can get Borderlands and the first three DLC packs: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot, and The Secret Armory of General Knoxx. All of these are available for Windows only.

Paying more than the average (less than five bucks right now) nets a buyer Borderlands 2, Gaige the Mechromancer, Krieg the Psycho, one of the pre-order bonus areas, and a coupon for 75% off Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. These are available for Linux and Mac in addition to Windows.

Going in whole skag at $15 gets all of the above along with the Borderlands 2 Season Pass (Captain Scarlett’s Pirate Booty, Mister Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock’s Big Game Hunt, and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep), a level cap increase, and the fifth Headhunter DLC Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax.

Notably missing from the lists above are Borderlands‘ fourth DLC pack, Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution, the first four Borderlands 2 Headhunter packs, and any of The Pre-Sequel‘s downloadable content. I expect some of those to be added in after a week, though Gearbox and Humble may throw in some surprises. Keys for some Tales from the Borderlands episodes would really seal the deal here were they to show up.
