The Phantom Pain’s official guide sounds slick

The hardcover edition has an art gallery

The folks who created guides for the Metal Gear Solid series and Revengeance are working on the official guide book for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. It’ll cover every mission, secret, and collectible, as well as the Mother Base metagame that has me so eager for September.

Fans will be interested to know that there’s also a hardcover collector’s edition with a lithograph by longtime series artist Yoji Shinkawa, an art gallery, and “additional content.” It’s 400 pages, according to Amazon, while the standard book is 368. And the robot arm cover — can’t neglect that.

Check in tomorrow morning for our latest hands-on coverage of The Phantom Pain. I’ll be curious to see if this can push Bloodborne aside as my favorite game of the year. Could be a close one.
