PlayStation 4 hits 40 million sold worldwide

Quite a milestone

In terms of raw sales, Sony is leading this console generation, and that lead isn’t slowing down.

Just this morning they’ve reported that worldwide, the PS4 has sold more than 40 million units as of May 22, 2016, calling it the “fastest-selling console in PlayStation history.” PS4 software sales hit 270.9 million (they count retail and digital) as of that same timeframe.

With Sony stealing exclusivity deals from Microsoft left and right, the software target lines up. I guess we’ll just have to see how the Neo, Scorpio, and the NX fare to really declare a winner, but it’s going to be hard to top the PS4’s momentum.
