Assassin’s Creed has a new perspective, but a familiar thirst for blood

We go to China first

A cursory glance at the launch trailer for Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, and you might think that the franchise is moving in an entirely different direction. A stylized aesthetic, wonderful ploofs of color, and a focus on linearity instead of crowded sandboxes. This is nothing like the Assassin’s Creed we’ve known since 2007.

Then, the killing starts. One by one, enemies fall and disappear into the shadows. Sure, you can change their approach, but ultimately, assassins gon’ assassinate. It’s all they know.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One tomorrow, April 21. Maybe it can sate your bloodthirst for just a bit; everyone knows a true assassin is never completely quenched.
