Japanese mobile and social game publisher GREE has laid off roughly 30 people at its San Francisco offices, GamesIndustry reports.

“We have recently aligned GREE’s US studio to focus on creating the next generation of mobile social games,” says GREE International chief operating officer Anil Dharni. “As part of ensuring that we are operating as efficiently as possible, we have made the difficult decision to reduce our work force.”

GREE reportedly parted with 25 employees late last year following the closure of its mobile social gaming network, OpenFeint.
