Ron Gilbert, of Monkey Island fame, as well as the recent The Cave (presently free on PS+!), wrote a blog post: “If I Made Another Monkey Island…” Like O.J. Simpson’s bizarre book If I Did It, Gilbert adamantly stated that he is not making another Monkey Island. Several times. Don’t get your hopes up. No, this is more an interesting thought experiment on Gilbert’s behalf. One which didn’t tickle me as it did many. I find a lot of the retro tenets (insane logic) of adventure games to be a bit non-functional. Still, interesting. Begin speculating against Gilbert’s behest. I mean, LucasArts is no more, right?
