Ubisoft and Marvel team up on Avengers: Battle for Earth

The Avengers are going to get still more gaming love as Ubisoft Quebec is currently developing Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth for Xbox 360 and Wii U. The title will be a motion-controlled affair and is said to feature twenty characters from the Marvel universe and will feature interactive environments, “inspired by iconic Marvel comic artwork and the Secret Invasion storyline.”

There’s another little tidbit in the press release which caught my attention, a quote from Ubisoft’s Toby Key who references the title’s, “extensive combinations of characters, motion-controlled moves and competitive gameplay.” This sounds to me as though Battle for Earth could be similar in nature to Ubi Quebec’s last Kinect title, PowerUp Heroes, except with established Marvel characters. That would address what I felt was one of the most significant shortcomings of that game, so I hope I’m right.

A website has been set up for the game, which at this time encourages people to sign up for more information.
