My teammate shot me in Takedown: Red Sabre

And I dig the game even more for it

Takedown: Red Sabre should make tactical first-person shooter players happy. I’m not one, I’ve come to realize, but I gave it my best during a demonstration of this squad-based PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 game from Serellan at E3. And then, I was accidentally shot by my teammate. That’s all it took for me to go down for the mission permanently.

There’s something wonderful about that in a game where bullets will travel through objects based on their density, crouching — not running — is frequently used, and moving through corridors is a slow crawl, one that will requires communication with teammates. In other words, thinking, and planning, and all of the things that have left many modern shooters are present here. There’s even a nice color palette! Look at the gallery below to see for yourself.

Red Sabre was Kickstarted earlier this year, which served as a great opportunity for the development team to find out what mattered most to fans of tactical shooters when building the title. The end result should, again, be a treat for those players.
