Ubisoft continues its downward spiral as it ceaselessly tries to restructure itself and is now closing yet another studio and laying off dozens of employees. The studio in question is Ubisoft Winnipeg, and approximately 85 people are expected to be out of work as a result of this closure.
This is according to Insider Gaming, which broke the news earlier today. Per the report, Ubisoft Winnipeg employees found out about the closure this morning, and about 85 of them are to lose their jobs with the studio’s shutdown. This is said to impact several in-development projects at the company as well as to other studios working under the Ubisoft umbrella.

Most notably, it appears Ubisoft Montreal, one of the company’s largest and most important studios, also felt the impact of this decision.
Around 120 people developing Rainbow Six Siege and another 50 staff working on Rainbow Six Siege Mobile and an unannounced game were taken off these projects, though, as Insider Gaming reports, these aren’t planned to be laid off as of right now.
Ubisoft Winnipeg primarily helped other, larger studios bring their products over the finish line and is credited on titles like Rainbow Six Siege, Far Cry 6, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It opened in 2018 and was based in Winnipeg, Canada.
