Frozen Synapse dev offers post-mortem analysis

Although we’re bombarded with information before a game is released, we rarely hear a lot about games after they’ve launched, aside from things like DLC and bugs. Frozen Synapse developer Mode 7 have released a post-mortem where they it reveals plans for the game and how well it did for them.

Frozen Synapse may have seemed like it was a hardcore strategy game but developer Paul Taylor says it wasn’t conceived like that:

“we wanted to make something skill-based that people could play between long sessions of other games as a distraction – a kind of “casual hardcore” title.”

Paul also says the target was to focus on selling the game on Steam and hopefully sell over 100k copies but they’ve ended up selling over 300k since May this year. The article is filled with info, including a  namecheck of Destructoid’s own review, that the demo had no impact on sales, and more. If you’ve got time and are interested in how well an indie game really sells, you should read this straight away.
