What are you playing this weekend, Destructoid? July 12-13

Some great options and more to come.

Happy weekend, Destructoid. I have a lot of plans this weekend myself, so let’s dive into this one to talk about what our plans are for gaming ahead of some mammoth releases in the next couple of weeks.

It’s a pretty good spread of games this time, with a handful of new releases across multiple systems available, as well as some fan-favorites making a return. So there is something for everyone here, depending on your likes and dislikes.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, plus College Football 2026, are some of the big hitters this week, with both having been launched on early access before eventually coming out later on. Both these games serve a wide niche of players and are pretty fantastic, so there are two offerings to look into.

On to one of the weirder picks, though, we have the game taking over Steam right now with Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The gacha anime waifu horse riding game has been getting some insane numbers to the point I’ve been slightly tempted to check it out. I remember seeing this game during countless trips to Japan I’ve made in the past, so it’s wild to see it out in the West and doing well.

Another few anime Gacha games are also Blue Archive and Persona5: The Phantom X, but I think I’ll give these a miss myself.

As for what I’m playing this weekend. I plan to dust off my old Nintendo 64 and play some Donkey Kong 64 ahead of Donkey Kong Bananza’s launch next week. I need to remind myself what the game was like ahead of DK’s first big outing in over 20 years. I can’t wait!

But enough about that. What are you all planning to pick up and play? Let me know in the comments below and also, let me know about some upcoming games the next couple of months you are really excited for so I can put it on my radar!
