Destructoid’s E3 2012 Game of the Show: The Last of Us

Recommended Videos

Say what you want about this year’s E3, but we’ve seen and played a bunch of great games this week. In fact, we were overwhelmed with all of the offerings, and narrowing down the selection to only one from all of the games in our 17 categories was pretty difficult.

You see, Hawken was amazing, Beyond: Two Souls was beautiful, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is the most fun you’ll ever have with a katana-wielding cyborg. Tomb Raider tells a story I’ve always wanted to hear, Dishonored turns stealth on its head, and Pikmin 3 is like a long-recurring dream finally coming true. But, even with as great as these all are, one stood above them this E3.

Destructoid is proud to award The Last of Us our Game of the Show award for E3 2012.

Show attendees never stopped talking about this game. Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic setting, gritty survival story,  and the relationship between its two main characters, Joel and Ellie, have already made their way into the minds of gamers everywhere. This cross-country trip across a post-pandemic America looks to go far beyond their already excellent Uncharted series in both setting and gameplay, and we can’t wait to see more of it.

Congratulations, Naughty Dog.
