Hawken unveils new Predator mech and co-op mode

I was really happy with the changes that were made in the major Ascension update for Hawken; I was already a fan of the free-to-play, mech shooter but the improved tutorial and unlocks encouraged me to play more of the game....

Hawken's Ascension update is the biggest yet

The free-to-play mech shooter Hawken has been in beta since the end of 2012 but the Ascension update that was released over the weekend is the biggest since the game's launch. One of the most significant overhauls was the tu...

Hawken's next big update is all thanks to fan feedback photo
Hawken's next big update is all thanks to fan feedback
by Hamza CTZ Aziz

Hawken has been in open beta for the last several months, but all in all things have been pretty quiet from the giant mech combat simulator. Well that's about to change as developer Adhesive Games unleashes a massive update that's going to improve a bunch of features.

"We've been focusing a lot on feedback from the public," producer Jason Hughes told me during hands-on demo. "We haven't had an update in a while because we actually had to break a lot of stuff in order to move on to some of the changes we wanted to make. At some point we couldn't keep updating what was live because we had to throw a lot of stuff out and sort of start from scratch."

So the team been taking in all this feedback, tweaking and tuning all sorts of features, and the result of their effort will be upon us later this month. Here's what you can expect.

Armored Core: Verdict Day isn't looking that hot

I'm coming at Armored Core: Verdict Day from an outsider perspective. Those of you that enjoyed V? You'll like this one, I'm sure. It's a lot like V, as a lot of the features you got out of that game pretty much carries over ...

A grim trailer for Armored Core: Verdict Day

Although the name may suggest otherwise, Armored Core: Verdict Day is a full installment, not some continuation of AC V. As we heard earlier from Keith, developer From Software is emphasizing a three-faction war that will be...

Remember Chromehounds? Here's Armored Core: Verdict Day photo
Remember Chromehounds? Here's Armored Core: Verdict Day
by Keith Swiader

Back in early 2006 there was not much going for the Xbox 360 in regards to engrossing online play. There was Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, which was great, but that was it.

That is, however, until the release of From Software's Chromehounds that summer, an online-focused mech shooter that featured a three-faction real-time war with an insane amount of customization. It was not a runaway success, sure, but I was still upset that a sequel was never produced.

Fortunately, that has changed, sort of, with Armored Core: Verdict Day, a seemingly spiritual successor to that 2006 title, and I knew it from the instant I saw it.

Buy or rent you own mech!

If you have ever had a desire to drive a mech around town, now you can finally have that dread come true. Head on over to Khang's Mechs and check out their low prices on top of the line mechs. Dave says they're epic. This is another April fool's gag, but it would be really sweet to own a mech.

Review: Zone of the Enders HD Collection photo
Review: Zone of the Enders HD Collection
by Brett Zeidler

Zone of the Enders was a welcome departure from Hideo Kojima's legendary brainchild Metal Gear Solid back in 2001. While a stark contrast to tactical espionage action, Z.O.E. always weirdly felt like it could easily fit into MGS' universe and fiction, no doubt stemming from Yoji Shinkawa's beautiful design on the games' mecha.

The series isn't perfect, but anyone who played either Zone of the Enders or Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner certainly remembers their time with the titles. This has kept a strong following for the series and demand for a third entry, which has finally started development as of May this year. Now we have the solid Zone of the Enders HD Collection to help tide us over until the aforementioned project is in our hands.
