COD Warzone’s Renetti meta is the game’s most miserable era ever

The TTK is out of control

Warzone has had some annoying metas over the years. From the overpowered DMR-14 to the mind-numbingly frustrating Akimbo Snakeshots, we’ve had our fair share of hard times, but in my opinion, none are as infuriating as the current Renetti—and many players agree.

This painful experience started with the release of MW3 season three. After nerfs to the RAM-9 and AMR9, players were looking for a new SMG to use, but no one could have predicted that the Renetti paired with the JAK Ferocity Carbine Conversion Kit would become Warzone‘s number one weapon.

The biggest problem is the weapon’s time-to-kill, which sits at a blistered 490 milliseconds. That’s over 100 milliseconds quicker than the HRM-9, its closest rival, making it the undisputed king of close-quarters combat. Worse than that though, the gun’s damage doesn’t drop off enough at long range, so you can end up getting destroyed even when you’re 50 meters away from your opponent.

After playing throughout the weekend, I’ve legitimately lost count of how many times I got annihilated by the Renetti, to the point that I actually don’t want to play Warzone until they are addressed. I was so excited for the return of Rebirth Island, my favorite map in the game, but spent my weekend getting crushed over and over again.

I’m not the only one who hates it, though. Open the Warzone subreddit, and you’ll see post after post of complaints about the situation. “They [have to] nerf the Renetti kit,” wrote one frustrated player. “Brainless gameplay with 20% faster TTK than the previously meta SMGs. What’s the point of all the guns in the game if a secondary pistol with a kit outguns everything?”

Another agreed, stating: “Please let the JAK Renetti get hotfixed. Warzone is a hot mess because of it. Almost everyone is running this damn thing and I’m so tired of getting one-shot by a pistol SMG. It takes absolutely no skill… It’s so incredibly busted that it can even be used medium-long range.”

I’m not saying that pistols shouldn’t be useful. In fact, I’d love to live in a world where every weapon class had a purpose. It would make the game much more tactical, you would have to consider your movements, weigh up engagements, and give so many weapons that never get used for an actual purpose.

However, whatever happened to the Renetti in the season three patch has gone far too far the other way and needs to be addressed by the developers immediately. Otherwise, they may end up with plenty more players like myself who don’t want to play Warzone until it’s fixed.
