Nintendo reveals new IP for 3DS titled Code Name: STEAM photo
Nintendo reveals new IP for 3DS titled Code Name: STEAM
by Kyle MacGregor

Nintendo tipped its hand this evening at E3, revealing a new intellectual property called Code Name: STEAM for 3DS.

A turn-based strategy RPG hybrid with third-person shooter elements, the story follows an elite task force created by Abraham Lincoln to fend off an alien invasion. Yes, really. The upcoming title is said to take inspiration from the work of author H. P. Lovecraft and comic artists such as Jack Kirby and Bruce Timm.

Code Name: STEAM is set in London and features a steampunk aesthetic, complete with airships and all. The perspective brings the vantage point down to the actual units, which Nintendo hopes will help take away the apprehension people have about strategy titles and bring the genre to a wider audience.

It is being developed by Intelligent Systems, the studio behind Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, with assistance from other first-party teams. The producer is none other than Hitoshi Yamagami, overseer of RPG projects at Nintendo and manager of the company's SPD Group 2.

Code Name: STEAM will release for Nintendo 3DS in 2015.

Here are some fancy product shots of the white PS4 and PS Vita TV

I went to snap images of the new PS4, PS TV, and all of the new controllers and accessories, but the floors was crowded and dark (and stinky), and the goods were behind an ultra-reflective glass case.  Frustrated, I came...

Driveclub has the best dynamic weather engine I've ever seen
by Dale North

At E3 yesterday, Evolution Studios showed off a brand new build of Driveclub that highlights their impressive weather simulation system. This build was so new that it needed to be streamed over from the art director's computer to a PS4 development kit. They showed some stunning, absolutely photorealistic visuals running in real time in both Scotland and Norway.

Driveclub already looked great, but this weather system takes it over the top.

Pac-Man confirmed for Super Smash Bros.
by Kyle MacGregor

During a roundtable presentation at E3 this evening, Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed Pac-Man as a playable character in Nintendo's upcoming Wii U and 3DS fighter. The Bandai Namco mascot will be receiving his own stage as a part of the deal.

Sakurai asserts Pac-Man was planned for the title from the start of development, which seems to make sense since Bandai Namco is handling the project alongside Sora Ltd.

Pac-Man features "some interesting abilities like throwing fruit and eating power pellets," confirmed over Twitter. To see what the rotund yellow fellow looks like in action, check out his debut footage above and the screenshots in the gallery below.

[Update: Mr. Game & Watch will be returning as a playable character in the upcoming fighter.]

Nintendo confirms three games from Miyamoto, one is Star Fox Wii U photo
Nintendo confirms three games from Miyamoto, one is Star Fox Wii U
by Chris Carter

Well that didn't take long.

Nintendo has sent over word to Destructoid that three games have been confirmed from the mind of Shigeru Miyamoto -- Star Fox, Project Giant Robot, and Project Guard.

All of these will be on the Wii U, and for Star Fox, the GamePad will show the view of Fox McCloud's Arwing. The TV shows the perspective behind your ship, and you can use the gyro sensors from the GamePad to target enemies. You can also switch between the Arwing and the Landmaster tank instantly, as well as a new helicopter vehicle. It's slated for 2015.

Project Giant Robot turns the GamePad into a factory, where you can build your own creation. From there, the GamePad becomes a cockpit, where you can control your robot and fight other creations. It's also coming in 2015.

Guard involves stopping a robot invasion, tasking you to set security cameras around a special perimeter, then monitor them to shoot lasers and blast the invaders -- this is another 2015 release.

Nintendo Treehouse's Bill Trinen delivered more details on  their newly announced NFC figures, amiibo, directly following their E3 streaming event. He says that a variety of games will support these figures later this year, including Super Smash Bros., Mario Party 10, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, Yoshi's Wooly World, and Mario Kart 8. Nintendo says that amiibo will bring new types of fun and new ways to interact with your favorite characters.

Super Smash Bros. on Wii U will be the first game to work with the first run of amiibo characters. Remember that opening video of Super Smash Bros. Meele? Remember how the figures came to life in that opening movie? That will be a reality later this year.

Nintendo announces Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for Wii U

We just can't get enough Kirby, it seems. Nintendo announced Kirby and the Rainbow Curse for the Wii U today, which looks to be a clear follow-up to the DS title Canvas Curse. Not much is known at this point, but it looks like Kirby will have a ton of different forms to morph into, and the same stylus gameplay will be present.
