Spooky Call of Duty: Ghosts Pumpkin Bread & Seeds

Oct 31 // Steven Hansen
Call of Duty Ghost Pepper Pumpkin Seeds Ingredients A pumpkin, stolen from a nest or store bought Salt Olive oil Ground pepper (ghost peppers if you're daft, cayenne for the more reasonable) Instructions So easy! Just scoop the seeds out of your lobotomized pumpkin. Put them in a bowl, maybe give them a rinse. Don't trip about removing all the gunk. Pat them dry with a paper towel. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper, toss to coat. Lay them out on a baking sheet. Sprinkle some more salt over the top. Throw them in the oven for about 30 minutes at 300 degrees. Boom! Pumpkin Bread Ingredients That same pumpkin 1 cup olive oil 2/3 cup water 2 cups of pureed pumpkin flesh 4 eggs 3 1/3 cups flour 3 cups sugar 2 teaspoons salt 2 teaspoons cinnamon 2 teaspoons baking soda Instructions Bake your pumpkin, skin side down, at about 350(F) for as long as it takes to become supple and tender (over an hour if you use a whole, large pumpkin). Scoop the flesh into a blender that doesn't suck and puree that gunk. Set aside 2 cups. Freeze the rest for next time. Combine olive oil, water, pumpkin flesh, eggs. Get those eggs beaten evenly. Add salt, cinnamon, baking soda. Next, flour. Whisk like the wind. Pour into a butter or oil-coated baking pan. Bake for about 45 minutes. Ovens are finicky. Check on it and make sure it's not still too moist, but watch closely those waning minutes to ensure it doesn't end up too dry.

Grand Theft Swallow: 5-Star Wanted Burrito Bomb

Sep 11 // Steven Hansen
Grand Theft Swallow: Pastrami-topped triple chili cheese dog burrito Ingredients: Chile Salt/pepper 1 white onion 1-2 bell peppers Garlic Paprika, cayenne, oregano, cumin, chili powder 1 can diced tomatoes 1 small can tomato paste 1 can beef stock 2 lbs ground beef Bacon 1 can pinto beans, 1 can kidney beans Other: Cheese (mozarella for me) Pastrami Hotdogs/sausages Burrito-sized flour tortillas Instructions Make your chili first. Drop chopped onions, bell pepper, and garlic in a pan with a little bit of olive oil. Add mix of spices, canned tomatoes, tomato paste, beef stock. Let simmer. Cook bacon. You put it on a hot pan and flip it when it looks cooked. Remove from pan, set on paper towel to absorb grease. Brown ground beef, salt and peppered, breaking apart with wooden spoon. You can use the same pan for bacon flavor. Drain fat when thoroughly browned. Add ground beef, beans, bacon to chili. Let simmer longer. Grate cheese over and let melt or wait to do so. Cook your choice of sausage or hotdog. Throw pastrami on to warm, too. Steam a flour tortilla with a double boiler, make shift if you're crafty enough. Otherwise, throw it in a microwave for ten seconds wrapped in a wet paper towel. Lay steamed tortilla out. Add pastrami, chili, cheese, sausage/hotdogs. Wrap. Eat. Feel bad.

A la cartridge: Killer is Dead's Mondo Burger

Aug 28 // Steven Hansen
Mondo Burger Ingredients: ⅗ lb short rib ⅗ lb brisket ¾ lb chuck salt, pepper  1/2 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons soy sauce 1 tablespoon wasabi 2 red bell peppers 2 white onions Makes about 6 burgers. Instructions: Prepare toppings. Roast bell peppers in the oven at 420 degrees Fahrenheit, flipping occasionally, until they're soft and charred. Peel away the burnt outside, get rid of stem and seeds, and slice up. Slice onions to desired size. Throw in a heated pan with oil and let them start to brown a bit before moving them around. Cook them about 20-30 minutes, or until appropriately caramelized. For the wasabi ketchup, just mix wasabi, ketchup, and soy sauce. Heat your pan (cast iron if possible) and some oil on medium-high. When the pan is heated, shape your patties from the ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Don't handle the meat too much, just give it shape. Wet hands help. Put your delicious meat on the pan. 4-5 minutes on one side, without touching or moving it. Don't press down on it and squeeze all the juices out or you're Killer is Dead to me. Flip it over and let cook 4-5 minutes on the other side. Take off the pan and let sit for 5 minutes.

A la cartridge: Pasta di Pikmin

Aug 21 // Steven Hansen
Pasta di Pikmin Ingredients: Salt, pepper Minced garlic 1/2 white onion, chopped 1-2 zucchini 2 bell peppers (for color) 1 can garbanzo beans 1/2 pound rainbow rotini (pasta) 2 cans diced tomatoes (crushed for a thicker sauce) Bunch of green onions Instructions: Start boiling a pot of water at some point. It takes forever. Warm some olive oil in a pan. Add garlic and onion. Cook until fragrant. Really, smell it. Get your nose in there. Good, right? Add evenly chopped bell peppers and garbanzo beans. You can roast bell peppers in the oven first for even better flavor. If you do, add them towards the end.  Let your vegetables cook a while and then add evenly chopped zucchini. Add two cans of diced (or crushed) tomatoes. Salt and pepper to taste. Cover and simmer to mix flavors and get vegetables tender. Throw your pasta into salted, boiling water. Don't skimp on the salt. Cook until the pasta is still firm, but has softened comfortably. Drain pasta. Toss pasta in vegetable mixture. Top with grated parmigiano reggiano if you're feeling fancy. You attractive claim you.

A la cartridge: Dragon's Crown pork monster

Aug 16 // Steven Hansen
Dragon's Crown pork monster Ingredients: Salt, pepper Pork shoulder (on the bone) 1 white onion 1 carrot 1 celery stalk 1 small can of tomato paste 1 cup of red wine Minced garlic 2 cups of beef stock Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Rub your meat with salt and pepper, coating evenly. Heat up a pan. Sear the meat for about one minute on each side. Remove the meat from the pan. Pour wine in the pan, scraping up burnt on bits of flavor. Let the wine boil for a bit. Add carrot, celery, onion, all chopped to equal proportions. Cook the vegetables for about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic, tomato paste. Mix. Add beef stock. Transfer the liquid and vegetables into a large, oven safe receptacle. Submerge the pork as deeply as possible. Let it cook in the oven for 2 hours. Side option: Rosemary potatoes Ingredients: Potatoes Olive oil Minced garlic Minced rosemary  Salt, pepper Instructions: Cut the potatoes into equal-sized pieces. Quartering works for small potatoes. Toss in a mixture of olive oil, minced rosemary, minced garlic, salt, pepper. Place on a pan and put in the oven for 1 hour, or until potatoes are a desirable softness on the inside. To brown the outside, you can set the oven to broil and cook a bit longer, but be mindful they don't burn.
