How to complete Left Behind or Last Farewell in Gray Zone Warfare

Make sure you grab the Tracker from Gunny

Once you have completed the Native Negotiations task for Lab Rat in Gray Zone Warfare, you’ll unlock a series of new tasks from all the Vendors at base camp. Handshake and Gunny will both give you a task that shares these same objective, but has different outcomes and rewards. This is how you can complete both the Left Behind and Last Farewell tasks in Gray Zone Warfare and which one you should choose in the end.

Where to locate the missing body

For both Left Behind and Last Farewell you will need to find the missing body in a small village outside of the local town. Handshake just wants you to find the body and confirm its identity for Left Behind, whereas Gunny wants you to place a Tracker on the body so it can be extracted later for Last Farewell. Even though both tasks share the same objective, only one can be completed, as doing the required action for each task unlocks the other.

Accept both tasks at base camp then make sure you check your Messenger to acquire a free Tracker from Gunny. If you’ve already used or lost the Tracker, you can always buy an extra one for $50 from Gunny. The missing body you need to find is actually located in a small village just outside of the local town, not inside the town itself. Here is where you can find the missing body based on your faction:

  • Mithras Security Systems – Right in the middle of where 166, 123 and 167, 123 and 166, 122 and 178, 122 all meet on the corner outside of Nam Thaven
  • Crimson Shield International – 147, 162 outside of the town of Kiu Vongsa
  • Lamang Recovery Initiative – 204, 156 outside of the town of Pha Lang

The small village is inhabited by enemies, which you’ll have to clear out before completing this task. Once you’ve taken them out, you’ll notice a body in the back part of the village on the ground in the middle of the road. Here is where you have to make a choice: you can place the Tracker on the body which will complete Gunny’s Last Farewell task, or simply leave and return to base camp now to confirm the identity to Handshake for his Left Behind task.

Should you complete Left Behind or Last Farewell?

Obviously, the final decision is yours, but I recommend marking the body using the Tracker to complete the Last Farewell task for Gunny. This will lock out the Left Behind task for Handshake, but I feel like it’s the best decision for multiple reasons.

While completing the Left Behind task for Handshake will net you some nice armor, you’ll actually get an M4A1 for completing the Last Farewell task for Gunny. Both vendors give you reputation for completing their task, but I think Gunny is one of the most important vendors to get reputation with. Once you unlock Reputation Level 2 with Gunny you get access to very useful weapon attachments like the silencer and 4X Scope.

Here are the rewards for completing both Left Behind or Last Farewell:

Rewards for completing Left Behind for Handshake

  • 2x VIP Body Armor
  • $3,400
  • 400 Experience
  • 100 Reputation with Handshake

Rewards for completing Last Farewell for Gunny

  • 1x M4A1 with full attachments
  • $3,400
  • 400 Experience
  • 100 Reputation with Gunny
