Criterion says that they pulled some of the best bits from several of their racing creations to make their latest, Need for Speed Most Wanted. They also gathered inspiration from the classic franchise title of the same name. Put all together, they've made one crazy open-world racer.

I spent a good amount of time with both the single-player and multiplayer sides of Most Wanted at a press event last week, where plenty of crashing, bashing, passing, and cussing took place. I'm sure it looked like I was having a bad time with how animated I became, but good racing games bring out my road rage. I tried to assure others there that my screaming meant I was having fun.

Need for Speed Most Wanted: Find it and drive it

Man, I wish it was like this in real life. I see cars that I want all the time but all I can do is make a childish grabbing motion in the air, as if I could just whine and someone would give it to me for doing so. That's why...

gamescom: NFS Most Wanted Kinect, Vita features detailed

Need For Speed Most Wanted is such a fun racing game. Criterion has created a perfect racing experience that's just jam packed with a ton of content.

There's so much content that Kinect might actually make itself useful for once with the voice commands feature. You'll be able to give out commands instead of using the d-pad to select from the racing menu, saving you time and letting you concentrate completely on driving. You can select what race you want to do, to even modding your car on the fly with voice commands. One example I was given was that you can switch to offroad tires on the fly so your car can handle better offroading.

E3: Need for Speed: Most Wanted sure feels like Burnout photo
E3: Need for Speed: Most Wanted sure feels like Burnout
by Daniel Starkey

I freaking love Burnout. Rewarding wanton destruction in a race is right up there with the printing press for the greatest accomplishment of our species. When Criterion took the stage at the EA press conference, I hoped it was a new, full-fledged Burnout. I wasn't totally wrong. While Need for Speed: Most Wanted, doesn't carry the Burnout moniker, it still feels very much like utterly ridiculous arcade racer we all know and love.

Most Wanted takes a lot of cues from Burnout: Paradise. Players will have an open world and spend effectively zero time sifting through menus and messing with things like tire pressure and suspension height.

Instead, the focus is on a dynamic, driving experience that keeps you in the action and away from loading screens. Switching cars, getting new paint jobs, repairing vehicles, and the like all take pace in just a couple of seconds.

Review: Burnout Crash! photo
Review: Burnout Crash!
by Maurice Tan

The Burnout franchise is best known for its insane speeds and awesome crashes, so when a downloadable title that would center on its Crash mode was announced a while back, it made enough people curious as to what it would be. When Burnout Crash! was unveiled to essentially be a top-down physics puzzle game with Kinect support, a lot of that initial  interest deflated a bit, to say the least.

However, I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of ridiculousness, addictiveness, and sheer fun Criterion was able to fit into their new game.

When we first heard about a new Burnout game, we had in our minds a brand new speed and ripped metal jaunt through some serene countryside and traffic-jammed cities. What we got is a game that is trying to capture the essence of the mechanical carnage and place it in a more accessible environment.

We had the opportunity the other day to get a little more hands on time with the party mode of Burnout Crash! and the premise is beginning to make more sense. You can look at this game like the way we play a pinball game. You have a bunch of set pieces and your job is to connect those pieces using combos and multipliers to get the highest score possible.
