ININ has announced that they’ll be bringing YSNET’s absolutely bizarre shoot-’em-up, Air Twister, to consoles and PC. Previously, this was an Apple Arcade exclusive. It will be arriving on November 10, 2023.

Do you not even have phone? I do, but I rarely play phone. So, typically, when something like Air Twister gets announced, the news just bounces off of me and gets filed away in the trash compactor of my mind. So, when I got the PR for this, I was like, “I’ve seen this before,” but I couldn’t place it. I had to look up news of it, and thankfully, CJ plays phone and had written about it previously.

So, there’s this trailer, and I really can’t tell what the hell is going on, so I’m just going to quote what the press release tells me, “In Air Twister, embark on an epic quest with Princess Arch as she fights to save her planet from imminent destruction.”

Okay, cool, now explain the winged elephant to me.

Yu Suzuki is the mind behind Space Harrier, After Burner, Out Run, and Shenmue. One of those games is among my favorite titles ever, and it’s probably not the one that you’re thinking of.

I can’t find a lot on Air Twister in terms of reviews, but the ones I do find are kind of lukewarm. However, CJ says it got much better after a few updates. I’d be willing to try it out myself once it’s off of phone. It looks absolutely insane. Like someone dropped a whole bunch of unrelated assets into a blender and hit “frappe.” I like insane.

Air Twister is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC on November 10, 2023. PlayStation and Switch platforms will be getting a physical release, as well.
