When you’re not playing Forza Motorsport 5 at launch, you’ll now have the option of watching the latest Game Grumps or whatever it is you use YouTube for on your Xbox One. The official YouTube app will indeed be ready on November 22 in most regions, excluding Austria, Ireland, and New Zealand. Those folks will have to wait a bit longer.

The app itself supports voice- and gesture-based control as you’d expect, and channel subscriptions. Frankly, I could see it getting some real use with the console’s multitasking Snap mode — though it doesn’t sound like that feature will be ready for a couple months.

Considering the Xbox One‘s push as an all-in-one entertainment device, I was expecting the YouTube app to be a given right out of the box. Silly me. I’m rapidly starting to realize that there are no guarantees when functionality can always be introduced via update after the fact.
