Your Halo: Combat Evolved dreams can persist with GameRanger

You don’t have to let go just yet

With Halo: Combat Evolved’s impending loss of online functionality via GameSpy on the horizon, players were about to have to say goodbye to online multiplayer and matchmaking. Again. But third-party program GameRanger has swooped in to save the day, making Halo: Combat Evolved as well as the demo and Halo: Custom Edition available for play on the Australian-based company’s servers.

GameRanger was founded in 1999 and has since snapped up several other games for inclusion via the service, such as Crysis and Crysis 2 as well as Need for Speed: Most Wanted in 2011. It’s great to know these older games can still live on, preserved by services like GameRanger — losing support for older titles is never fun, and this is great news for players still crashing Warthogs and whatnot in the original Halo.
