XCOM 2 will be compatible with the Steam Controller at launch

I still need to get one of these

While playing a review copy of a game that may or may not rhyme with Frying Dwight, a pop-up appeared to announce that Firaxis and Valve are implementing Steam Controller support for XCOM 2. If you have one of them fancy doohickey’s, you can:

  • Use a different control scheme based on the in-game situation.
  • Experience precise and responsive 1:1 camera controls using the touchpads in the Geoscape and the Tactical view.
  • Instantly select your ability with the flexibility of the controller’s Touch Menus.

This is considered to be the initial implementation, so there might be kinks to work out. If you haven’t picked up the Steam Controller yet, it’ll be bundled with XCOM 2 for 40% off. If you’ve already purchased the game, you can still get the discount on the controller.
