Xbox commits to cloud gaming, but consoles aren’t going anywhere

Xbox One X team already working on a new console

As Xbox head Phil Spencer took the stage for the last time at this year’s E3 press conference, he made a commitment to console gaming. There has been talk lately that we might be past the point of consoles. Spencer said “Nahhhhh.”

That’s not a direct quote. Spencer actually commented on the Xbox hardware team and how they’re hard at work on the next Xbox console. Microsoft is committed to this for at least another generation.

It’s not all console hooked directly to a TV stuff though. Spencer also mentioned that Xbox is aiming for cloud gaming streamed to any device via Xbox One. It wasn’t a shocking announcement as the closer, but rather a statement geared toward loyal Xbox fans. Consoles aren’t going away soon.
