At some point today, when you turn on your Xbox 360 and sign into Xbox LIVE, you’re going to get prompted to update. But there’s no reason to get excited, because it doesn’t really do anything. Well, you’ll notice.
According to Major Nelson, the Xbox 360 team has released a mandatory system update today that contains code to “prepare for future growth of service.” He didn’t have to, but Major Nelson makes it clear: “There are no other changes or enhancements in this update…in other words no new features.”
So Microsoft are actively preparing for the huge Fall dashboard overhaul, but today you get nothing. Except Braid on Xbox LIVE Arcade; you should be playing that.
