While mobile games get cheaper and cheaper, downloadable titles on the Xbox Live Arcade platform are rising in price according to Chris Charla, the XBLA portfolio director. Every year, more and more titles are priced at 1,200 MSP and 2011 alone already has 20 titles confirmed at 1,200 MSP.

Is this a sign of things to come? Charla is unsure. “I don’t really know where prices are going to go – ultimately, that’s set by the market – but it has been really gratifying to see that people are willing to a premium price for digital content.” It should also be noted that ratings for downloadable games have been going up over the past few years, too.

Can’t say I’m surprised: apparently we’re more than willing to pay 15 dollars for map packs, I’d sure as heck hope we’re willing to pay that much if not more for an actual game.
