Would you still be gaming if most of the industry was absorbed by mobile?

I ride until I die

This past week at TGS, I noticed a huge uptick in terms of an overall mobile presence. Much to the chagrin of most gamers, this shift is heralded as the end of gaming as we know it. But as someone who plays mobile games on a regular basis, I didn’t see it as all that bad. Sure, there are tons of money-grubbing projects out there, created with the sole purpose of creating marks and taking as much cash as possible, but hell, console publishers are doing the exact same thing.

I don’t think PC will ever die, but I can easily see consoles getting absorbed one day in favor of Microsoft’s original vision of the Xbox One, before eventually falling to the wayside. If that ever happened, I’d be devastated, but I’d continue to game right on into the next era, whatever it may be. I’ve seen a lot of people fall this past generation in fact, but my passion is just as strong as ever — I don’t think I could do this without it.

But what about you? I know people often say “if mobile takes over I’m done,” but really think about it first and share your thoughts.
