Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty

Whoa, Team Ninja’s Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty looks rad

“A dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty”

Today during the Microsoft 2022 showcase, we got to see a reveal for Team Ninja’s latest action romp: Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

It’s described as a “dramatic, action-packed story of a nameless militia soldier fighting for survival in a dark fantasy version of the Later Han Dynasty where demons plague the Three Kingdoms.” Quite a mouthful! Even if this ends up being “Three Kingdoms Nioh,” I’m so here for it.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer says it was “exciting to work with Team Ninja” for this collaboration. It’s been exciting to see Team Ninja rise to the occasion in recent years, myself!  Following quite a few fumbles, most notably Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, one of their lowest points, they knocked it out of the park with Nioh just three years later. After that they continued to assist in various Warriors games, and gave us Nioh 2, as well as Ultimate Alliance 3. The Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection reminded us of their storied history, and Stranger of Paradise, while polarizing, was interesting from an action perspective.

Now we have Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty next year. It’s out in early 2023 on PC, Xbox consoles, and cloud devices.
