Gear maintenance is one of the most important things to keep in mind in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. As Henry gets from one tussle into another, he’ll rack up dents in his armor and chips in his sword, and repairing them all is crucial. But how? And where?
Whereas some games are positively thrilled to let you repair everything at a single NPC, this is not the case at all in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. This borderline immersive sim instead forces you to hunt down specific craftsmen for specific kinds of gear. After all, a blacksmith won’t do you much good when it comes to tailoring, will they now? Here’s exactly how and where to go to have your particular kinds of armor and weapons repaired.
Note that there are ways for Henry to maintain his own gear in the field, but repair kits are relatively rare. Further, repairing costs groschen, so be sure that you’ve got some on-hand wherever you go. Here’s the short, to-the-point cheat sheet for all the craftsmen NPCs in this game:
- To repair fabric clothes: visit the tailor.
- To repair leather clothes and gear: visit the cobbler.
- To repair armor: visit the blacksmith.
- To repair weapons: visit the blacksmith.
- To repair ranged weapons: visit the carpenter.
And here’s a map to give you an idea of where to find each of these craftsmen in Trotsky:

Where to repair clothes in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Clothes are a tad bit annoying to repair in Deliverance 2 because you have to go to different craftsmen to get different gear properly sorted out. It’s perfectly sensible from a logical point of view, of course, because a real-world cobbler won’t be able to fix a torn jacket sleeve. Since we’re all so used to video game quality-of-life boons, though, it takes some getting used to.
To repair clothes made out of fabric, you need to visit tailor NPCs. To repair shoes, gloves, and other leather-made bits and bobs, you need to go to the cobbler. The annoyance comes from the fact that they may be fairly spread-apart in some cases.
For example, in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s starting region, Bartoshek is the resident tailor in Troskowitz. However, the nearest cobbler, Matthew, is some ways away, over in Trosky Castle. My recommendation is that you stock up on Tailor’s and Cobbler’s Kits, respectively, and have a few ready to go just in case your gear starts falling apart on you.
Where to repair armor in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
To repair any piece of metal armor, you need to visit a blacksmith or use a Blacksmith’s Kit item. As far as game mechanics and maintenance go, armor is effectively a type of clothing, and thus cannot be manually maintained via a mini-game.
Odds are you’ll spend a lot of time at Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s blacksmiths, though. Not only is Henry himself a bit of a journeyman blacksmith, but there’s also a weapon-crafting mini-game which I highly recommend.
Where to repair swords, maces, and other melee weapons in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
There are three different ways you can repair a melee weapon in Deliverance 2:
- By paying a Blacksmith to do it for you.
- Using a Blacksmith’s Kit manually.
- Using a grindstone/sharpening wheel.
If your primary weapon is a sword or an axe, you’re going to have a very easy time keeping it up-to-spec in this game. All you really need in this respect is a grindstone, and medieval Bohemia has oodles of them in almost every settlement you’ll come across. You do need to put in some elbow grease to sharpen properly, of course, but this is a very satisfying and rewarding mini-game that will also (with the right Perk applied) make your weapons a fair bit more potent in combat.
Not all melee weapons can be repaired using a grindstone, however. As a rule of thumb, if a weapon has a sharp edge and can be reasonably held in your lap for repairs, it can be maintained on a grindstone. Otherwise, as is the case with spears and maces, you’ll have to go to a blacksmith or use kits to keep them up-to-spec.
Where to repair bows and crossbows in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2?
Finally, you need to visit a carpenter to keep your ranged weapons properly maintained. This might seem a tad unintuitive at a glance, but the vast majority of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s weapons are made mostly of wood. Thus, the carpenter is your friend.
Note that most carpenters will also have a grindstone sitting somewhere nearby, allowing you to tune-up your edged weapons without having to go looking for a smithy.
