The Switch 2 has been confirmed for a June release date, and pre-orders will become available on April 8. That being said, you can already start bookmarking several retail sites to get ready for the bloodbath.

Pre-ordering the Switch 2 in the US

GameStop’s pre-order page for the Switch 2 is already live, though you won’t actually be able to get your pre-order in until April 8. If you’re in North America, you can expect to get them from the usual suspects, as listed below.

You can absolutely still pre-order your Switch from some U.S.-based retailers even if you’re outside of the region, but do note that it’ll likely cost you a bit more. For folks in the U.K., here the retailers to keep an eye on:

Nintendo Switch 2 release date and price

The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be released on June 5. At launch, you’ll have the option of getting either the console itself, or the Mario Kart World bundle which, as the name suggests, comes with the console and Mario Kart World.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will retail for $449 USD.

What to do if you can’t get a pre-order?

Given how popular console releases have been in the past decade, don’t be surprised if you’re unable to secure a Switch 2 pre-order once those go live. Don’t be disheartened, though; there are things you can do to give yourself a better shot when inventory gets restocked.

Here are a couple of things to consider:

  • Sign up for mailing lists and waitlists for your preferred retailers.
  • Sign up for a retailer membership such as Walmart Plus or GameStop Pro, which will give you a higher chance of getting a pre-order since members will often get first dibs when stock refreshes.

If all else fails, you’ll just need to play the waiting game. Eventually the consoles will get restocked, and it should become much easier to purchase a Switch 2. It’ll just take a little bit more time.
