Here’s how you’ll resolve the Catch Me a Big Fish request

The Resident Evil 4 remake is one part horror, one part action, and one part… fishing?

That sounds cheeky, but it’s not entirely inaccurate. In Chapter 4 of the Resident Evil 4 remake, you’ll find a Blue Note requesting a Lunker Bass. Fortunately, the note tells you right off the bat that the gigantic fish lives in the lake, which should be fresh in your memory after the battle you just endured. That said, the prospect of scouring an entire lake can be daunting, especially if you don’t know where to look. Here’s what you need to do.

How to catch a Lunker Bass

To find the Lunker Bass, you’ll need to hop on your boat and venture out to the Lake. Though there aren’t any enemies to fight here, you still can throw harpoons from your vessel. If you aim carefully, you can spear any fish you see in the water and add it to your inventory. This is how we’ll catch our Lunker Bass.

You’ll find big fish scattered around the lake, but you’ll want to look around the Boat House on the south side of the lake. In fact, this is the location teased in the photograph accompanying the note. Look for a fish that’s notably larger than anything else swimming around and aim your harpoon carefully. You’ll know you’ve hit it if you see a pool of blood in the water around where your weapon struck. You’ll get an up-close view of the fish when you first pick it up.

Note that when they say this thing is a “Lunker,” they weren’t kidding around. This will take up a 2X4 section of your inventory, or 8 squares total. Autosorting helps, but you do need the space to begin with. Consider temporarily storing one of your guns at the Typewriter if you’re in need of an emergency, as you’ll just be going back to the Merchant to sell the fish anyhow.

Remember, you need to complete this quest before you finish Chapter 4. Don’t put off this request, especially since you can complete it quickly.

Keep catching fish for free health!

Even after you catch the Lunker Bass, you should search around the lake for more fish to catch. Though they take up more inventory space than a Green Herb, they’re still free sources of health. There are many spots around the lake you’ll want to travel to, so catch a fish to heal if you take a hit or two from the Ganados you’ll encounter.

If you don’t need the health, you can also sell your excess fish to the Merchant for a few extra Pesetas. Anything that helps you get closer to a fully upgraded Red9 is a win in my book!
