Where to find Seeds of Hatred in Diablo 4

Hopefully you won’t hate collecting these

Diablo 4 features no shortage of currencies for players to juggle. Aside from the premium Platinum currency, players will juggle Murmuring Obols, Aberrant Cinders, and Seeds of Hatred. All of these can yield some nice goodies for players, but the Seeds of Hatred might be the most intimidating for players to get.

In short, Seeds of Hatred come from two PvP zones called Fields of Hatred, located in Kehjistan and the Dry Steppes. This means that will you have to brave not only fierce monsters to collect these, but potentially other players as well. Fortunately, if the thought of turning on your fellow players makes you sick to your stomach, you’re not completely out of luck. You can still get Seeds of Hatred and buy some of the unique cosmetics without getting your hands dirty. Here are the details.

The best ways to farm Seeds of Hatred

Long story short, you do not have to hunt other players to acquire Seeds of Hatred. In fact, that may be counterproductive in several cases. The safest way to get Seeds of Hatred is by defeating bosses and events in the Fields of Hatred.

In other words, keep your eye on your map to see if any skull icons or event markers appear. If they do, make your way over to them and use your strongest skills to take down the foes in front of you. If you’re lucky, stacks of Seeds of Hatred will upon victory. However, note that dropped Seeds of Hatred are not instanced; only the player who picks them up first will keep them. You may work together with friends to farm Seeds of Hatred in this zone, but you’ll have to figure out how to divvy up the loot to keep it fair for both players.

Of course, you can steal Seeds of Hatred from other players by hunting them down. However, note that you’ll have a target on your back as well if you initiate PvP here. While you will find extra Baleful Chests, you’ll have to decide if that’s worth the effort.

How to use Seeds of Hatred in Diablo 4

First, collecting Seeds of Hatred is only half the battle. To actually use them to buy various rewards, you’ll need to convert them into Red Dust. In short, you’ll need to find an Altar of Extraction and defend yourself from monsters and other players to permanently keep your loot. Check out our detailed guide on the process here.

Both towns within their respective Fields of Hatred house four vendors that will accept this currency. The goods they sell are the same regardless of location, so don’t bother warping between Kehjistan and the Dry Steppes for different gear. Your options are as follows:

  • Unconventional Mount Armor: Easily the biggest Red Dust grind for completionists. Here you’ll find a variety of cosmetics for your mount.
  • Odds and Ends: This vendor sells unique cosmetics to apply to your equipment at the Wardrobe. As of writing, only one full armor set is available here.
  • Cursed Vendor: Here you’ll find a few consumable buffs to take with you in the Fields of Hatred. Honestly, these last for such a short duration that I’d struggle to say they’re worth the cost. Maybe buy a few items to save you from an aggressive player out in the field, but I wouldn’t recommend more than that.
  • Unsavory Oddities: Functionally the same idea as the Purveyor of Curiosities, with Red Dust instead of Murmuring Obols. You’ll trade your currency for a random piece of gear in a slot of your choosing.

What should you spend Red Dust on?

Given all the options, we have two routes for spending Red Dust. If you like to collect absolutely everything, getting cosmetics from the Unconventional Mount Armor and Odds and Ends vendors is your best bet. You can’t get these items anywhere else, so they have the most value.

However, if you couldn’t care less about how you or your mount looks, hit the Unsavory Oddities vendor. This is the only vendor that can potentially boost your character’s power, especially if you get lucky and grab new legendary equipment. Whether this is worth participating in PvP for is up to you.
