Where to find Scale Shot TM 200 in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

The die is cast

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: The Teal Mask has added several new TMs to the game, ranging from fun curiosities to competitive threats. TM 200, which teaches Scale Shot, is in that second category. This Dragon-Type move can strike from two to five times, each with a power of 25. While there are other moves in the game like this, Scale Shot also raises the user’s Speed by one stage while lowering Defense.

This has huge implications for Dragon-Type sweepers, as they can keep pressure on their foes while preparing to reliably outspeed them. Additionally, if the user is holding the Loaded Dice item, Scale Shot will always hit at least four times. This effectively gives it a minimum of 100 power, putting it on par with offensive mainstays like Earthquake. Check out where to find the Loaded Dice here.

Fortunately, finding the Scale Shot TM 200 in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet isn’t too hard. For those who own The Teal Mask, look near the north side of the mountain in the middle of the map. You’ll see a few very small clearings as the mountain descends downwards towards the Paradise Barrens. Head to the clearing closest to the path leading to the Crystal Pool, as indicated by the screenshot above. You’ll see a glowing Pokeball that contains the Scale Shot TM inside.

You can either climb up or down the mountain to grab this. I personally felt that getting there from the Crystal Pool fast travel point was easier, but you can choose whichever route works best.

How to craft Scale Shot TM 200 in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

If you’re looking to set up multiple Pokemon with Scale Shot, you can of course craft it as well. To do so, you’ll need the following materials:

  • 10,000 LP
  • 2 Jangmo-o Scales
  • 2 Gible Scales
  • 2 Arrokuda Scales

Quite a bit more intensive than the usual TM material requirements! Probably a good sign that Scale Shot is, in fact, pretty powerful. Fortunately, you may find all these Pokemon in Kitakami. Jangmo-o is the only one exclusively from Kitakami though, so you can do some material grinding in Paldea if you want. To find Jangmo-o specifically, look on the northwestern side of the map around the Paradise Barrens. Alternatively, you can find a Wild Tera Type Hakamo-o on the mountain side near where you find the TM itself. Remember, even evolved Pokemon drop these materials!

Gible can be found in caves and mountains in both Paldea and Kitakami, so look for those wherever you can. You can find a wild tera type Garchomp in West Province Area Two of Paldea, so you do have that option as well. Meanwhile, Arrokuda can be found all around the oceans surrounding Paldea in addition to ponds and lakes to the north and east of Kitakami. Good luck farming!
