Where to catch Applin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

You might miss it the first time around

In my quest to finish out the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Paldea Pokedex, I actually missed Applin on my entire first run. I was completely oblivious to the fact that it’s actually hidden in select trees. Here’s how to find it, and how to evolve it into its two evolutionary tracks.

Where to find Applin, who is not a version exclusive

If you want to try and catch Applin organically without further use of a guide, you can dash and slam into trees anywhere you see the Applin icon show up on your map. Applins live in trees, and you’ll need to dash (press in the left analog stick) to knock them out. The catch is that they won’t always spawn even through this method, so you may need to slam into trees for a while. Note that you can reset spawns by triggering a picnic, then quitting out of it.

One of the easiest ways to catch them is to go to the grove in the gallery above, west of Levincia. There are two trees there that you can alternate slamming into, with picnic resets if needed.

Applin Evolutions in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Once you have Applin, it can evolve into two different Pokemon: Flapple (Tart Apple) or Appletun (Sweet Apple).

To get the Tart Apple, all you need to do is buy it from a Delibird Presents shop after acquiring three gym badges. It’ll run you a mere 2,200 Pokedollars, and you just need to use the item on Applin like an evolutionary stone, and you’re good to go: boom, Flapple.

A Sweet Apple is similarly easy to grab. You can also get it from a Delibird Presents shop for 2,200 Pokedollars after earning three gym badges.
