Just for the Taste of (sh)it.
Howdy buckeroos! And welcome to Whatcha Been Playing? This week’s entry is most certainly not brought to you by “Intergalactic” Coca-Cola, whose promise of “Blackcurrant and Carrot” flavoring did not, unfortunately, offer an out-of-this-world taste sensation to send my delicate palette rocketing into the stratosphere.
I like soda. I drink quite a lot of it. But I do feel we already have more than enough varieties to choose from, and I’m unsure whether the call is warranted for Intergalactic Coke, Pixel Coke, or Pepsi Nitro, to name a few. Then again, I’m old enough to remember The Cola Wars. It was horrible, son. Ring pulls littering the streets, “improved recipes” that tasted abysmal, fresh-faced youngsters singing on a hilltop, and Michael Jackson’s head catching fire… Well, it was mostly horrible.
It’s all irrelevant anyway. I’ll always be an Afri-Cola man.
Live Life to the MAX
It’s been an utterly chaotic time for me. And while I’m on the verge of what should be a fresh start, I instead feel stuck, confused, scared, and angry. My country sucks and has no money, my knees ache, I’m creatively dry, and I have to move house real soon. Is this the storm before the calm? I sure hope so. Because I want to start telling you about games I have been playing, and I haven’t been playing any.
In fact, this weekend will probably see me box up my consoles for the move, so that’ll be at least a week without Street Fighter, or Streets of Rage, or Celeste, or any of the wonderful digital experiences that help keep the ol’ noodle screwed on. Not only that, but Devolver Digital’s Trek to Yomi is on the horizon. How can I not be ready to rock when that drops? I hope the rest of the month plays out smoothly, and that normal service will be resumed as soon as possible, albeit from my sexy (average) new digs.
Would you like to be a Pepper too?
And that’ll do it for me. I have to get back to box duties. The real important question pertains to you, our dear readers, in the form of golden query Whatcha Been Playing. So, before you get wrapped up in the fresh promise of Saturday, drop into the comments below and tell us what vidya gamez you’re currently enjoying. I mean, I hope that you’re enjoying them. If not, then just stop playing them. Play something else. Play Road Avenger. There are so many games and only so many free hours in the day, y’hear?
Have a wonderful weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.
