Demo discs were simpler in my day
Good morning, friends, and welcome to this week’s edition of Whatcha Been Playing? I never take it for granted that y’all take precious minutes out of your time to stop by and share your lives with us, your friendly Destructoid community. I sincerely hope that you have a lovely weekend, whatever you’re getting up to. Play some games, watch some movies, eat some fine food. Even if you’re working, just be sure to take whatever hours are available to treat yourself. I know you deserve it — that’s some quality enabling.
For the first week in a while, I am not playing anything for review. So in between bouts of Street Fighter V, Streets of Rage 4, and Hades, I randomly decided to fire up PS5 pack-in title Astro’s Playroom, which I had not touched since purchasing the console. Boy, I really should’ve dallied in its tiny digital world sooner, as it’s actually a ton of fun. Not only is the cutesy (but challenging) platform adventure a showcase for the PS5’s nerdy specs, but it’s also a celebration of PlayStation history as a whole, built around a very creative, funny, and charming electronic world. Like Tron, but with a singing graphics processor instead of that scary-ass MCP face. If you have a PS5 but are yet to check it out, do so — you’ll be glad you did…
…Oh, I also came out this week. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all of your support, friends.
Anyway, now it’s your turn to grasp the mic and speak your brains. Please take a few minutes to join us in the comments below and tell us what titles you’ve been playing this week/weekend. There’s a lot of excellent vidya gamez out right now. And, if they don’t take your fancy, I’ve heard that some other video games came out before this week, this year even. If you’re playing one of those, that’s fine too. All that matters is that you join in our weekly roundtable and let your fellow readers know, as the title suggests, whatcha been playing.
Have a wonderful weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.
