We’ll have to wait just a bit longer for Rocket League’s cross-play parties

PS4 to wait forever

Rocket League’s long-awaited cross-play party system (called RocketID) has suffered an unfortunate delay. Originally announced alongside the reveal of its summer update roadmap, developer Psyonix has pushed back the feature to ensure a smooth launch. In an update blog on its official site, Psyonix writes, “We want to ensure that RocketID is operating flawlessly on all platforms before its release, and this extra time will ensure that you’ll be playing and partying up with friends on different platforms with ease.”

No timeframe was given for when the RocketID system would be integrated, but Psyonix is promising more information during the Fall/Winter update blogs. They recommend people keep a look out on all social media platforms to get the latest news right when it lands.

As for what’s going on now, Psyonix has issued hotfixes for the new progression system introduced to the game. Apparently, the ball physics were accidentally tweaked and some players have been experiencing controller lag, but fixes should already be available for those issues. Another fix concerns the conversion from Rocket League’s old XP system to the new one and has rightfully bumped player’s standings up accordingly.

The post has a better breakdown of how new ranks will be calculated and what your old XP will convert to. Suffice to say, the surprisingly low level most players got was an error and not intentional.
