Ubisoft kills manuals, launches eco-friendly packaging

The environment is saved! Kinda.

Ubisoft’s Xbox 360, PS3 and PC packaging changes from here on out. In-game manuals will replace paper ones. This kicks off with Shaun White Skateboarding later this year.

Oh, quit bitching. You never read the manuals anyway. Ubi says that digital manuals are good for both the player and the environment! They say that one ton of manual paper comes two tons of wood from 13 trees and puts out the equivalent of over 6,000 lbs of CO2. For shame!

The DVD cases also get some eco tweaks. Ubisoft has partnered with Technimark Inc. to make the most “environmentally-responsible DVD case for all of its future PC titles.” They’re 100% recycled, you know. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction will be the first of these cases.

Look at you, Ubisoft!
