Ubisoft buys Trials HD developer RedLynx

Nice play, Ubisoft. They’ve snapped up Finland-based dev RedLynx, the makers of the fine game Trials HD. That game became one of the best-selling XBLA titles ever, mind you.

Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft, sounded pretty pleased about their latest acquisition: “We are delighted to welcome RedLynx to the Ubisoft family. Their expertise in asynchronous online games and physics-based game mechanics provides us with a great opportunity to bring their powerful brands, most notably Trials, to an even broader range of fast-growing digital platforms.”

That means more Trials for us. Not a bad thing.

Of course, RedLynx also wins, as they’ll be able to share their games with an even bigger audience.

This acquisition follows four others in in the past few of years. It started in 2008 with Massive Entertainment, continued in 2009 with Nadeo, as well as with Quazal and Owlient in the last year or so. Look at you, Ubisoft.
