Chose the needs of many, or the hopes of a few

Nintendo and Square Enix have released a new trailer for Triangle Strategy. While we’ve seen some of the battle system, this new trailer explores the world outside of battle, both in camp and in court.

The Character & Story Trailer #2 for Triangle Strategy focuses in on Frederica Aesfrost, a Lady of Aesfrost who finds herself caught in the middle of a major political conflict. We get some glimpses of other Aesfrosti characters, before setting the stage for future political conflict.

One major decision looks to be choosing whether you will garner a powerful force’s support, in return for abandoning Frederica’s people, their sworn charges. Will you secure a future at the cost of a few? Or protect everyone, at the cost of everything? Decisions you make both shape the story and who you can recruit along the way.

We also get a look at some of the camp features, like restocking supplies and participating in “mental” battles for training. Plus, making smart strategic choices gets you kudos, letting you get some powerful spell cards to use in fights.

This blend of political intrigue, gorgeous drawn and pixel art, and lots of tactics still just grabs me. Triangle Strategy is easily my most anticipated game this year, and this trailer is just another reason why. Just the potential for different story outcomes and how they might change your party in the long-run is exciting enough. Plus, did you see that one character drop a sun on the enemy?

Triangle Strategy isn’t far off either. Square Enix’s strategy RPG is due out on Nintendo Switch on March 4, 2022.
