To David Letterman’s chagrin, Hatsune Miku is coming to the Oculus Rift

At the end of David Letterman’s late night career, he hosted anime pop idol Hatsune Miku and looked both confused and miserable. He didn’t suffer that much though: he’s now living his best life on his own schedule, interviewing folks around the world on his new (good) Netflix show.

Either way, the digital idol he helped usher into the west is now going to dominate another VR platform: the Oculus Rift. Thanks to Degica publishing and Crypton Future Media handling developmental duties, we’re basically getting a port of the SteamVR edition that was released last year, where your enjoyment really hinges on how big of a Miku fan you are. “All 19 songs” are included, as well as seven stages.

Miku VR will arrive on Oculus Rift on June 6. As a reminder, the Oculus and SteamVR storefronts are separate. You can still use your Rift on SteamVR, but without the use of homebrew solutions, you can’t utilize the Rift store without an Oculus device. In other words, the existing Steam edition already supports both the Vive and the Rift. Gotta love how easy it is for newcomers to acclimate to VR right?
