Even more turtle power

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting even more back-up for their next outing. Today, DotEmu locked in a launch date of June 16 for TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, and Casey Jones is joining the fray.

Today’s trailer at the Summer Game Fest showcase debuted Casey in all his hockey-masked glory. Casey will fight alongside the turtles, their master Splinter, and beat-em-up reporter April O’Neil.

Also confirmed is local and online co-op for up to six players. Yes, that means a lot of chaos on the screen all at once. But isn’t that a plus?

Six-player mayhem

TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge impressed me a lot when I played it at PAX East earlier this year, and adding both more players and Casey Jones is just icing on top. Dotemu’s garnered a good reputation for brawlers at this point, with its previous work on projects like Streets of Rage 4.

With TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge though, it really feels like they’re honing in on that Saturday morning brawler feeling. In my demo, it felt fairly easy to pick up and play as anyone, and the fighters all felt very individual. After seeing April bash someone with a boom mic, I’m pretty thrilled to see what the team has concocted for Casey Jones. Add in a ton of multiplayer mayhem, and June’s looking like a good time for a couch co-op party.

The brawling gets underway next week when TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge hits PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch on June 16.
