The Xbox One outsold the PS4 in July

Took you long enough

Microsoft beat the NPD to the punch, and has just announced that the Xbox One has outsold the PS4 in July in the US as the “top-selling console” of the month. This is before the launch of the 2TB Xbox One S, mind, which launched at the start of August.

I don’t really see a resurgence or takeover happening this generation (Sony has sold, not just shipped, over 40 million PS4s, and Microsoft hasn’t announced their total sales for a few years), but things are looking a little better going into the holidays for Microsoft.

I have no idea how much of a dent the Xbox One S will make (probably not that big), but I hope they release numbers on that model too.
