The Xbox One Media Remote is now official

It’s one of those mornings

An accidental unveiling of the Xbox One Media Remote warmed us up to the device being a thing that exists, but I’m still not too keen on paying $24.99 for it. Microsoft has now properly announced the remote — it’s releasing worldwide in “early March.”

The Xbox One Media Remote allows for control of Blu-ray movies and streaming video as you would expect, and there’s a OneGuide button for fast access to additional media content. Interestingly, the remote works in conjunction with Kinect — controlling TV/receiver power and volume is made possible by the all-seeing, all-knowing peripheral.

Even with a dedicated remote, there’s no getting away from Kinect.
