The great NES coffeetable project (or how I came to have sex with a coffeetable)

Recommended Videos

The original NES controller has inspired many a killer recreation project, and this is surely not the first time that someone has decided to whip up a table based on the little rectangular guy. You can always see varying levels of skill in people’s work, however, and the thing about Kyle Downes version here is that it’s bloody flawless. I can’t find a single thing that keeps it from looking like a giant’s version of the beloved original, and for that I applaud him.

If you are as fascinated as I am, you’ll want to see how he made it, which is easy thanks to the progress posts that Kyle made as he went through the project. You can also see the controller in action in a video after the jump (of course it’s fully functional as well), which seems like it might be easiest to use with two people operating it. If I ever meet Kyle, he will have no choice but to be subjected to me bowing and praying to him in the street, so for his sake let’s hope that chance meeting never takes place.
